The main platform for one of the men running for Arizona senator is to lower in-state tuition for [illegal] immigrants. Excuse me? How about lowering in-state tuition for legal residents who have paid their dues. I can’t go to the university I want to go…

Yeah they work hard… just like the rest of us. Only we have half our paychecks taken by the government for taxes, retirement, and social security. So who works harder for our money? Dont fool yourself into thinking that if you’re not an immigrant you don’t do physically, mentally, and emotionally breaking work. Cuz if you say that to my face youre gonna start a fight.

How do they not have the same accessibility to education? They pay the same as me, but that’s not okay? They should pay less. Yeah, that makes a whole hell of a lot of sense. I work just as hard as they do but I should pay more because they’re illegal. Seems legit.

And excuse me, how is anything I said racist? Being racist requires discriminating against a particular race. I don’t recall doing that anywhere in my initial post and I believe it was you who made this about illegals. I was general and included all immigrants.

Any worker not being paid under the table, be they immigrants (undocumented or otherwise) or citizens born in the US, pay taxes. Any worker. Doesn’t matter where they were born. If they’re being paid legally, they’re paying taxes. It’s federal law. Pick up any paycheck and you’ll see it.

Nowhere did I suggest that citizens born in the US don’t do hard work. As the child of a citizen born in the US who works close to sixty hours a week running a small business and doing physical labor, that would be kinda silly, wouldn’t it? So great job on suggesting that I said that, but no cigar.

When you have anyone being paid under the table (which happens to non-immigrants, too! Le gasp! Who’d’a thunk?!?), they are not paying taxes. However, as is often the case with immigrants, undocumented or otherwise, if they’re being paid under the table to do jobs that, often times, other Americans don’t want or won’t do, they’re paid extremely low wages. I unfortunately can’t remember any specifics but it’s far below federal minimum wages. As such, they have no protection—if they’re injured, they’re screwed. They can’t go to a hospital, they can’t get help, they can’t sue if they’re treated unfairly, and their human rights are pissed all over.

You just referenced “illegals” in your paragraph re: education, so I’ll lay this out for you: if you do not have access to jobs that pay well, as many undocumented immigrants don’t, you are not going to get good pay. If you don’t get good pay, you’re not going to be able to pay the frankly exorbitant tuition demanded by colleges. These rates are exorbitant no matter your immigration status; these rates are especially terrible when you don’t have access to legal work, when you’re unable to get insurance and you have to have money in case anything happens to you, when you don’t have job or home security… need I continue?

By lowering tuition for undocumented immigrants, the US will give these undocumented immigrants access to education.

By suggesting that undocumented immigrants don’t deserve the right to that kind of access because ~you’re a born ‘n’ bred Amurrican~ and you work hard for your money!!!1!, by referring to them as “illegals” (hint: illegal isn’t a noun, and a quick read of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, specifically article 15, might explain why they’re not illegal so much as they are undocumented), you are filled to the brim with racist bullshit.

Enjoy.

Again it’s not racism if I’m not discriminating against a particular race. And your main argument is their inability to pay for the exorbitant tuition costs. Golly, big surprise, neither can I. Neither can most people. Which leads me back to my first argument that immigrants illegal or otherwise shouldn’t be given an unfair advantage to education that most Arizona residents are unable to pay themselves. You insist on making this about immigration and “racism”. That’s not what I’m upset about.
If you’d get down off your high horse and pay attention, you’d see that that I’m upset about how this guy wants to screw the rest of us into decades of debt to pay for education, but cut tuition in half for immigrants who are or aren’t legal residents of Arizona. How is it fair that myself and my future children are reduced to a lesser education or massive debt for a better education when all someone has to do is move here from a foreign country, claim immigrant status, and instantly get reduced tuition. I want a Better life for myself and my family, rather than busting my ass for the rest of my life just to provide basic necessities. How is that any different than immigrants?

Personally, I think if you’re not a resident of Arizona it isn’t even an issue you should be weighing in on.

Also, quit making it about race and pay attention. Enjoy that little egg and suck on it.
